No doubt you have heard of the two main variations of the cannabis plant: marijuana and hemp. All cannabis plants, including these have chemical compounds called cannabinoids. There are many of these compounds. Researchers have identified over 113 different ones so far. Despite the fact that the name “cannabinoids” may seem unfamiliar, there are a couple that you’ve probably heard of before. CBD is one of the best-known cannabinoids. Another cannabinoid that you are likely aware of is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

It’s likely that you already know why THC is so famous. But on the off chance that you are not aware, let’s go over that and why CBD stands out from it. THC has a specific effect on those who encounter it, this effect is known as psychoactive. It is the cannabinoids that creates the high that has made cannabis so infamous. CBD, due to its association with THC is often believed to be psychoactive. However, it is not. CBD does not cause any sort of intoxication.

The levels of CBD and THC in the different cannabis plants is what helps separate them. Marijuana has incredibly high levels of THC. Its CBD levels vary from plant to plant. Because of these concentrations, marijuana is still federally illegal (though some states have legalized in one form or another). Hemp is quite different with very low levels of THC. It, in fact, is never more than 0.3%. Hemp’s CBD concentration is through the roof. This is why hemp is federally legal in most states. These concentrations also mean that CBD manufacturers tend to use hemp much more than marijuana, as it is easier (and more legal) to extract CBD from hemp.

The research on CBD’s effects is still very much in the preliminary stages. We can’t say that we completely understand the cannabinoid yet. But the research that does currently exist is very promising and encouraging. For example, there are many studies that have suggested that CBD could be helpful in managing a nervous disposition. Several other studies have found that CBD could be helpful in alleviating pain. There have even been studies that have found that CBD may have an impact on acne.

Now that CBD is defined, let’s go over the definition of CBD oil.

There are many CBD products out there (as we will go over later), but CBD oil really stands out among the others as one of the most popular. This is partially because it is the simplest CBD product. All it consists of is CBD extract mixed into a carrier oil. This means that there are no other ingredients to the product that may dampen your CBD experience.

Another appeal of CBD oil is the fact that it is a very versatile product. Most products only give you one choice on how to use them. CBD oil gives you a few options. One really common way of taking CBD oils is by creating your own CBD edibles. This is done simply by including it in your cooking. However, this is a rather slow way of getting your CBD. This is because the food needs to digest in your stomach before the cannabinoid can take effect and start its work. There is another, much more direct way to take CBD oil. You just place the desired number of drops directly into your mouth. This is because there is thin skin in the mouth, which allows for easier absorption. This makes it easy for the CBD to absorb.
